MS Nordnorge - navigating in Norway and Antarctica

October 15, 2007 - Permalink - No comments

In 2006 we made an Antarctica tour with this ship.

The 700 passengers ship does aloow only 350 passengers for these expedition cruises.

The ship is not as comfortable as other cruise ships (because it is mainly used in Norway as a Hurtigruten ferry ship who is carrying tourists and ferry passengers alike).

We loved this ship for the Anatarctica cruise because there were a number of lecturers aboard giving lectures about birds, geography, explorers, etc etc. These lectures where given in 3 languages (English, German and Spanish).

Zodiac trips are alternate in groups. Everybody has to wait for his turn.

Restaurant is OK, but not gourmet.

In 2008 we will go back to Anatrctica and we think we will use the same ships as it gives the perfect balance between lush seating, big windows (while reading looking and gazing at the icebergs!) and an acceptable mobility.

Smaller shiips are more mobile to get everybody on the shore but have lesser comfort.

+ the expedition crew leaded by an Argentinian Antarctic explorer, was simply the best !

All the pictures have been taken during my Antarctica cruise
